I said it.
I have talked with countless single moms, like myself, in multiple countries, and the reality is nearly always the same. Dating doesn’t bring them happiness.
Meeting people can though.
What’s the Difference Between Dating and Meeting People?
Dating – You go into the interaction with the desire to establish a romantic connection.
Meeting people – You go into it looking for people who have similar interests or tastes, with only platonic expectations.
It all comes down to expectations, really. You turn into a salesperson when you date. You only show the best sides of yourself, you want people to buy the facade in an attempt to acquire happiness from them.
When you go out to just meet people, you turn the facade off. You express who you really are and attract people who vibe with that.
No Dating?! What if You Never Meet “The One”?
Calm thyself. Being single is actually very helpful after an abusive relationship.
People find their life partners in so many odd and random ways, I’m not worried about it. Would I like it to happen soon? Sure. Am I going to rush it? No. Why? I rushed it last time and ended up with a life lesson instead of a life partner.
It will happen when it happens. My happiness is my focus right now.
What Does Happiness Mean to Me?
Less. Stress.
Financial stability, is a big part of it. Body image also factors in. Finding a hobby I enjoy. Rediscovering things I enjoyed before my life lesson. Learning to slow down and enjoy the simple things. Understanding I don’t need to settle.
Honestly, I find new things to be happy about all the time. It takes time, but it is worth it.
I hope you never stop finding happiness outside of other people.
